라운지톡 32화는 지난화에 이어 서촌 산책 가이드를 준비했습니다. 어쩌면 상권 중에 가장 컬트(?)적인 매력을 갖고 있는 곳이었고, 최근 많은 변화를 겪고 있지만 여전히 서울 최고의 산책 코스 중 하나입니다. 평소 자주 들르는 가게부터 멍 때리기 좋은 스팟, 통닭집에서 케이크 가게까지. 나름대로 균형을 맞추려 노력했는데, 읽는 분들께 서촌의 매력이 잘 전달된다면 기쁠 것 같습니다. 그럼 언제나처럼 편안한 마음으로 읽어주세요 :)

For Issue No. 32 of Lounge Talk, we're back with a Seochon walking guide, picking up from where we left off in the previous issue. Of all the neighborhoods in Seoul, Seochon might just have the most cult following — and while it's been going through a lot of changes lately, it still feels like one of the city's finest walks. From the shops we find ourselves returning to again and again, to the perfect spots for zoning out, to fried chicken joints and cake shops — we tried our best to strike a balance. We hope it gives you a good sense of what makes Seochon so special. As always, settle in and enjoy the read :)

전시를 보러간 날보다 벤치에 앉아 하늘 보며 멍 때리거나, 디지털 정보실(도서관)가서 책 읽은 날이 더 많은 것 같은 국립현대미술관(서울관)에서 산책을 시작합니다. 방문객이 많은 만큼, 언제나 볼 만한 전시도 열리고 있으니 서촌 근처에서 가장 무난하게 시간을 보낼 수 있는 곳 중 하나가 아닐까 싶습니다. 국현미를 거쳐 청와대를 따라 서촌으로 넘어가는 길은 애정하는 산책 코스이기도 합니다. 개인적으로는 나중에 꼭 이곳이 아니더라도, 미술관 근처에 살고 싶다는 소망을 품고 있습니다.

We begin our walk at the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art (MMCA Seoul) — a place where, honestly, I've spent more days just sitting on a bench staring at the sky or reading books in the digital library than actually going in to see the exhibitions. With its steady stream of visitors, there's always something worth seeing on display, making it a sure-bet kind of place to while away an afternoon near Seochon. The route that takes you from MMCA, past Cheong Wa Dae (The Blue House), and into Seochon is also one of my all-time favorite walking paths. Personally, I harbor a quiet dream of someday living near a museum — not necessarily this one, but somewhere like it.

파티스리 데시데

좋은 재료로 만든 클래식한 케이크는 물론, 사장님의 창의력이 돋보이는 디저트 메뉴들이 있어 언제나 디저트-러버들이 붐비는 곳입니다. 디저트-러버의 소개로 처음 이곳을 알게된 뒤 근처에 가게 되면 꼭 들르는 가게가 되었습니다. 예약하면 홀케이크도 구매하실 수 있어 특별한 날을 기념하기에 좋고, 단거 좋아하시는 분들은 벨기에 아이스초코 음료 꼭 드셔보시길 추천드리고 싶습니다.

This spot is always buzzing with dessert lovers, drawn in by both classic cakes made with quality ingredients and creative dessert menus that showcase the owner's imagination. The first time I discovered it, I was genuinely blown away (laughs) — and ever since, it's become a must-stop whenever I'm in the neighborhood. Whole cakes are available by reservation, making it a great choice for marking a special occasion. And if you have a sweet tooth, the Belgian iced chocolate drink is an absolute must-try.

아르키스토

청와대 길을 통해 서촌으로 들어간다면, 서촌 초입에 있다고 할 수 있는 아르키스토입니다. 핀란드에 오랜 시간 살다 들어오게 된 디자이너가 그동안 수집한 물건들과 그에 어울리는 PB라벨을 담백하게 소개하는 곳인데, 빈티지 아르텍과 이딸라 제품들을 만나보실 수 있다는 것 만으로 매력을 느낄 수 있는 가게입니다. 개인적으론 하늘색 상판의 빈티지 아르텍 테이블이 탐나는데, 아쉽게도 개인 소장품이라 판매는 하지 않으신다고 하네요.

If you enter Seochon via the Cheong Wa Dae (The Blue House) path, one of the first places you'll encounter is Arkisto. It's an understated little shop run by a designer who spent many years living in Finland, presenting a carefully curated collection of objects gathered over that time alongside a modest selection of their own private-label pieces. The chance to come across vintage Artek and Iittala items alone makes it worth a visit. Personally, I've had my eye on a vintage Artek table with a light blue top — but sadly, it turns out that's part of the owner's personal collection and not for sale.

시저스앤스페이드

[Scissors and Spade (Flower Shop)]

벌써 1년 넘게 조스라운지 안국의 센터피스를 담당해주고 계신 시저스앤스페이드입니다. 편안한 인상의 플로리스트분께서 만 4년째 운영중이신 곳이고, 취향에 따라 다르겠지만 '들꽃 처럼' 해달라고 요청드렸을 때 가장 멋지게 꽃다발이 나오는 재밌는 곳입니다.

Scissors and Spade has been the florist behind JO'S LOUNGE ANGUK's centerpiece arrangements for over a year now. The florist, who has a wonderfully warm and approachable presence, has been running the shop for just over four years. Personal taste will always vary, but here's a fun tip — in our experience, asking for something that feels "like wildflowers" tends to bring out the most stunning bouquets.

화이트숍

신사역 근처에 있는 인포멀웨어의 분점 같은 화이트숍입니다. 넓지 않은 공간을 넓게(넓어 보이게) 쓰는 게 되게 어려운 일이라고 생각하는데, 대표님의 안목으로 고른 데이비드 멜러의 커틀러리 같은 양품들은 물론, 공간 자체가 주는 묘한 차분함이 매력적인 가게입니다.

White Shop is informalware's Seochon sister store, with the original based near Sinsa Station. Making a small space feel expansive is no easy feat — yet the shop manages it effortlessly. There's also a quietly inexplicable calm that the space itself seems to give off, and that alone is part of its appeal. Add to that a carefully chosen selection of quality goods, like David Mellor cutlery, handpicked to reflect the owner's refined taste, and it becomes a shop that's hard to walk past.

언글래마우스

언글래마우스는 '처음 보는 게 잔뜩 있는' 가게입니다(웃음). 이런 건 어디서 찾으셨을까 싶은 제품(혹은 작품)을 볼 수 있는 곳이라 문을 열면서 오늘은 어떤 걸 보게 될까 하는 마음이 자연스레 드는 곳입니다. 열정 넘치는 부부 대표님들이 운영 중이고, 해외 출장이 잦은 편이라 미리 운영 여부 확인 및 간단히 예약을 하고 방문하시길 추천드립니다. (예약은 인스타그램 DM 혹은 유선으로 문의 가능)

UNGLAMOUSE SEOUL is, simply put, a shop full of things you've never seen before (laughs). Every visit brings the quiet anticipation of what will I discover today? — filled with products and pieces that leave you wondering where on earth they were even found. The store is run by a passionate couple, and since they travel abroad fairly often, it's worth checking their availability and making a quick reservation before you visit. 바시몽트 서촌

창을 통해 인왕산이 보이는 건물의 3층에 있는 편집매장인 바시몽트입니다. 이미 장안동 듀펠센터(Duffel Centre)나 도산공원 근처의 라이프모던서비스(Life Modern Service)를 통해 단단한 팬층을 갖고 계신 곳입니다. 조스라운지 안국과 정동 쇼룸의 향으로 사용하고 있는 아포테케 프라그란스의 공식 유통원이기도 합니다.(*혹시 궁금하셨다면: 안국은 White Tea, 정동은 Fig 향입니다.) 소수의 깊은 브랜드를 모아 소개하고, 본인들 만의 색깔로 '편집'을 해낼 수 있는 편집매장의 기본기를 느낄 수 있는 흔치 않은 곳이라고 생각해 추천드리고 싶습니다.

VACHEMONT Seochon is a select shop on the third floor of a building with a view of Inwangsan (Mt. Inwang) through its windows. It already has a dedicated following through its presence at Duffel Centre in Jangandong and Life Modern Service near Dosan Park. It's also the official distributor of Apotheke Fragrance — the very scent used at JO'S LOUNGE ANGUK and the JEONGDONG showroom.(If you've ever wondered: Anguk goes with White Tea, and Jeongdong with Fig.) What makes VACHEMONT worth recommending is how rare it is: a shop that brings together a small number of deeply considered brands and curates them with a voice that is distinctly its own — a reminder of what a truly great select shop can be.

영광통닭

이제는 귀해진 클래식한 통닭(프랜차이즈가 아닌 맛)과 떡볶이를 함께 맛볼 수 있는 영광통닭 2호점입니다(1호점은 포장만 가능). 매장이 아주 크지는 않아서 자리가 날 때까지 기다릴 때도 있지만, 첫 입에 용서되는 맛입니다(웃음). 맥주 한 잔과 함께 긴 산책을 마치기에 더할나위 없는 곳이 아닐까 싶습니다.

Yeonggwang Tongdak (Branch No. 2 — Branch No. 1 is takeout only) is one of the increasingly rare spots where you can still get a proper classic Korean fried chicken — the kind that has nothing to do with franchise chains — alongside tteokbokki. The space isn't huge, so there may be a short wait for a table, but one bite and all is forgiven (laughs). There's no better way to wrap up a long walk than with a cold beer here.
